Greg Booth
Sheebeg and Sheemore
Here is yet another version of the popular celtic harp tune written by Turlough O'Carolan around 1691. Once again I'm using my EBDGBD tuning and playing in the key of A. I think I like Rene's (and Pete Grant's) approach in D better with all those low roots in the tuning, but thought I'd throw this out there anyway. I'm not sure why I keep having problems with the youtube audio quality at standard definition...if you look at it in HD or high quality it's better. Here is the audio file: Sheebeg & Sheemore It's recorded with a KM184 and the Cascade Fathead II ribbon mic using the mid/side stereo technique for a big sound. Please excuse the errant bar rattles and flubs, since I got a decent take on the 2nd try I said that's close enough.
Greg & Dan Booth Finalists in Father's Day Photo Competition
RN members should swing by The Bluegrass Blog and support our very own Greg Booth (AKA AKSlider) and son as finalists in a musically inspired photo competition.

Despite the unfortunately treasonous aspects inherent to a strictly resophonic-oriented assessment of their entry, I find the subtle elegance conveys a very aesthetically pleasing blend of harmonious paternalism; therefore, it earned my vote as being worthy of the title.

Here's a photo of Greg Booth, Greg's son Dan and OJ during the Resomania Workshop at Wintergrass 2009. Yes, that new 'Horn of Greg's sounds great and is quite the good looker in person.
Lot's of fun and an opportunity to see and hear from from some of the great Northwest pickers. Thanks again to Tom Foote for putting together the event.
AK Horn in the Bay
Hey everybody, I thought I'd give a little travel log of my trip south with the new Horn. Flying with instruments is like a box of chocolates...you know the rest. My plane out of Anchorage was delayed, but the good thing was at the baggage check in they took my one free bag and recommended I gate check the banjo and dobro. Went throuigh security with both instruments and my backpack carry on w/laptop, cameras etc. without any questions asked. It was a full flight so i was expecting grief about bringing on all my stuff, but when I asked about gate checking the attendant said, oh it will all fit in the overhead just fine. Wow. You never know what you're going to get. Barely made the scheduled departure time of our connection in Seattle after hustling about a half mile with dobro, banjo (both in Caltons) and another 30 lbs on my back! When is my vacation going to start?
