Scheerhorn Set Up Update
I just wanted to post an update. About three weeks ago, I took my Scheerhorn over to Tim's shop for a set up. The set up included replacing my Quarterman cone with Tim's cone. I thought the guitar sounded mighty fine before the set up, but I was really impressed with it after Tim swapped out the cone. I wanted to give the cone a little time to settle in and give the other parts some time to adjust. After playing it out today, I can say that the difference between pre set up and post set up is completely evident and amazing. Never before has this guitar sounded clearer or cleaner. Tim's cone has lent this guitar a power, a sparkle and a crisp, clean tone it didn't have before. I can only assume it will continue to open and develop as I continue to play it. This was the best money I've spent all summer!
Russ Lenk, Come Into His House
2:07 minutes (1.96 MB)
This is an upbeat "gospel" (not your typical!!) tune, written and sung by Russ Lenk. Recorded at "The Mothership" in Hollywood, CA in 2006. My guitar is a Scheerhorn Koa L-body...with some effects courtesy of the studio.
"Song for Gretchen" being played on Maple L-Body
Ok, be gentle. . . I might know the idiot in this video! This is my first youtube video and the first time I recorded this guitar - or any guitar for that matter. I used the iMovie feature on my iMac. The sound and playing might not be the best, but it's my first time out. This really is a work in progress as I haven't really "written" the song. It was just something I was noodling this morning and wanted to find some way to record the ideas I was coming up with. Anyhow, now I'm no longer a YouTube virgin. =)
