Fishman Pickup

Now available only from AMT is a rechargeable batteryfree Mi-Si preamp that's been specially modified to obtain improved sound from Fishman's passive Nashville bridge insert reso pickup.  This unique charge amplifier preamp design substantially reduces the pickup's non-linear distortion and provides an active, buffered output which minimizes effects of cable capacitance while also providing better signal level matching between the pickup and Aura pedal.

I'm extremely impressed with how Fishman's Aura mic imaging system has finally freed resoists from having to use a mic in order to get a natural amplified sound (thereby eliminating the inevitable feedback and leakage problems associated with micing a reso in situations with high stage volume); however, from the time Fishman's "Nashville" bridge insert reso pickup intended for use with their Aura pedals was introduced I've had significant concerns about its undesirable effects on a reso's acoustic volume, sustain and tonal characteristics.  I've also encountered recurring problems with this pickup exhibiting uneven string output levels and/or pronounced resonance peaks in the upper bass frequency range (which tend to make a reso it's installed into less natural sounding and more prone to feedback than if the pickup's string output levels and frequency response were more even).

AMT is now offering easy-to-use pickup installation kits for spiderbridge resonator guitars, including the following items:

AMT is now manufacturing a proprietary quick-disconnect cable assembly for use with Fishman's Nashville bridge insert reso pickup.  When used in combination with AMT's new high performance spiderbridge this cable assembly facilitates quickly and easily swapping between the Fishman pickup inserts and conventional bridge inserts of your choice -- to achieve optimum tonality, resonance, volume and sustain when use of the pickup isn't required, while enabling simple reinstallation of the pickup inserts whenever they're required for use with Fishman's Aura imaging pedal for live sound reinforcement.  Swapping of bridge inserts can be performed in less than five minutes using a standard hex key wrench... without requiring removal of the strings, coverplate, spiderbridge or cone.
