I know its just me but top dollar should only apply if youre ordering the guitar to be built to your specs a "custom" reso built just for you .That is the coolest thing about Customs they are made specifically for you .
Funny but in the midst of this recession the only reso price drop ive seen was the Mike Auldridge Sheerhorn on ebay .

Well Ben, if that's the case, the reso's Tim's going to build after he finishes his order list will not be considered Custom built, because if the one who ordered it, changes his mind and doesn't want it, the next on the list gets his chance at it. May not be exactly what he would have ordered, but I bet he still pays the $6000 price.
If I bought a reso built by Tooter for you, from you, would I get a cut price because it wouldn't be a custom built for me? That doesn't make sense.
If that's true, how could you ever get the price for it you paid?

As a proud new owner of this Meredith #44 I would like to thank to Peter for selling it. It sounds really great and it is really worth for the money. There are many contributions to this thread regarding to additional expeses when selling/buying something overseas and limited market with top level intruments in Europe. Yes, you are right. It was real luck that there was an offer of a reso made by a luthier that I respect, made from woods I would eventually select when ordering a custom one. And the reso was selling someone in reasonable distance to drive there to inspect it.

Congratulations. I've got #46 and it looks very similar. If it sounds similar, you're very lucky indeed. Mine has an interim baffle design that Tooter no longer uses (as far as I know). It's an arc of plexiglas/plastic with 2 round holes in it. In my opinion, this gives it something of an old time honk because of the similarity to a soundwell, while retaining a very modern sound, if that makes sense. It's got a lot of great midrange warmth and resonance. Does yours have this design baffle? (Mine has screenless rings, so it's easy to to see--you may not be able to see the baffle clearly.)
Enjoy your guitar. I'm sure it's a fine instrument.

I would like to retain the instrument, but unfortunately I need the money for other "projects". With Vojta the guitar is in really, really good hands. He is a very nice guy and an excellent guitar player. Thanks again.

Carey I too would be interested in knowing what you sold the guitar for. I know it had to be difficult to part with as it is a very nice instrument.
I have dealt in the custom handmade knife market for over 20 years and have sold a few guitars over the past 5 years. I can honestly say that the knives and few guitars that I have sold at a lost was because I needed money quickly for personal reasons or I really wanted a special knife or guitar.
I think that if you buy a quality instrument, you will at least get your money back(if you did not overpay to begin with) if you have time on your side.
